The single was published in 2015, when she was turning 19. It was a huge hit and received praise from critics and listeners alike. It was ranked in the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone named the track one of the top Songs of 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was among five songs that reached the top spots on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special because it was based on an interview with the Rap-Up show, many fans shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to accept herself. Cara is known for incorporating songs about mental health, kindness and self-love into her songs. Her inspiration for her music stems from her personal struggles to overcome mental health problems as well as insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she describes her album as half tumultuous and half perfected. The therapy she received has helped her develop and encourages people to try it too. Alessia Cara, a Canadian musician, was born in Canada on the 11th of July 1996 to Italian parentage. When she was just 10 years old her parents gave her a guitar that became the foundation of her love for music. Three years later at 13 she began covering her favorite songs via YouTube a major media platform to prove to the world she had the talents and determination to develop into an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and compose her own music.
