Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian singer-songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock and alternative rock but has additional influences from punk funk hip beat and jazz. Ani DiFranco was the very first artist to launch her own record company in 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in the city of Buffalo in New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who met Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian descent, and her mother is from Montreal.
